Deer Hollow is by far the best treatment facility I have encountered. After suffering a 4 year opiate addiction, in and out of multiple outpatient and residential treatment centers that did not seem to work, I was ready to give up hope. That was until I found Deer Hollow… a recovery center unlike anything I had ever experienced. From day one, the therapists and staff made me feel comfortable and safe. I could talk to them about anything and everything and never once felt judged. I could tell that they genuinely cared about each and every person individually rather than treating us like just another insurance number. The one-on-one and group therapy sessions were highly effective in getting to the root of the problem. I also enjoyed the recreational outings we did often. It was nice learning how to have fun again without the use of drugs and alcohol. I would recommend Deer Hollow to anyone who is battling addiction or knows someone who is. It was the start to a whole new life for me and I am forever grateful.

For many years I “worked a program” to try to achieve sobriety and peace, with some success. But something was missing, and I was frustrated and getting sicker. The way I see it, my time at DH gave me an owner’s manual for my (traumatized) brain. I learned how events in my past had shaped my responses in the present to make long-term recovery difficult. My work at DH freed me from some of these responses, and learned to identify and work with others. The clinical team is amazing, the staff are pulling for you, and the medical supervision is helpful. I was prescribed some meds at DH that finally really helped tame the symptoms of PTSD. These days I’m exponentially a better parent, friend, co-worker, and partner. Making the decision to leave my family for a month was wrenching, but we are all grateful I did. It isn’t easy; the work is hard, and it goes on. But I am maintaining continuous sobriety and enjoying my life.
